Poll: 70% Of Non-Vaccinated Would Quit Their Job Over Exemption-Less Vaccine Mandate

About 70% of unvaccinated Americans who aren’t self-employed stated they’d probably give up their job if their employer mandated COVID-19 vaccines and didn’t grant religious or medical exemptions, a new Washington Post/ABC News poll discovered.

These numbers do not suggest vaccine mandates would lead to a massive exodus from the workplace since a healthy majority of workers who’re working at locations which have yet to implement a mandate have already obtained their shots. However among the 30% or so who have not, there may be significant opposition. Only 16% from that group would comply with a mandate, whereas 35% stated they’d seek an exemption and 42% would leave. If there is no exemption, then 72% of those surveyed stated they’d quit.

Still, overall vaccine hesitancy has continued to decline, and the Post poll is the most recent data set indicating an increasing number of individuals are willing to get their shots, or have already done so. Masks and vaccine requirements are also favored by a majority of individuals.

The Post/ABC poll was carried out by phone between Aug. 20-Sept. 1 among 1,066 adults in the U.S. The margin of error is 3.5 percentage points. Learn more at The Washington Post.
